Oh No, Not a Peer Review!!!!!

How do you feel about peer reviews? What have your experiences with them been like?

Hello everyone!!

I hope that you all have been having a great week.

I decided to write about peer reviews. I know that there are many who do not like peer reviews for various reasons. I believe that the main reason many do not like peer reviews is because they cannot take criticism very well. I personally enjoy peer reviews or criticism, because it gives me a chance to hear what others think about the job that I am doing. I was in the military for over 9 years and my job was an Air Traffic Controller. I have seen and heard my fair share of critiques and peer reviews. I have had some bad reviews, but it was nothing. I moved on and learned. I looked at that as a chance at improvement and growth. We can often see our own mistakes, but we never can catch them all, so it is always good to have that extra set of eyes to watch your back or review your work. In the world of Air Traffic Control, someone is always watching your work and reviewing you, even if you are not doing anything wrong. I look at it as a constant learning environment. So in closing, peer reviews are nothing to be afraid of or to dislike. A person should look at peer reviews as a chance to learn and see what others think.

Well that is all for now.
Good night to everyone and see you all Wednesday.

  1. WOW!! I completely agree with your views on peer reviews. Sometimes criticism can help you correct whatever needs to be done on your paper.

  2. LaConstance,

You are right, peer reviews can be helpful. I'm always afraid I am coming across as mean, I don't mean to be. How do you think I can help this?

  3. Hey Jennifer, I really do not know if there is a way around it. I guess people are going to think that I am mean as well. The way I see it, if someone wants you to review their work, then they should want you to be honest. If they want to improve and learn, then they need to be able to accept the good and bad that comes from peer reviews. In my opinion people need to wake up and smell the coffee because the world we live in, is not always so nice and in order to make it to the top you have to be able to take criticism and sometimes dish it out. I have been on the receiving end and the giving end of criticism and have made plenty of achievements. I have had many that I have reviewed that did not like the review, but in the end, they have become some great professionals because of it. So again, people can either take it or leave, I say.
